Hours: Most. I work out of my house, and I keep a phone by the bed. So, I am litterally available 24 hours a day. However, a 2:00am call will be billed very hard...and if you have to ask how much, it isn't a big enough emergency to call at that time. I consider standard office hours are between 8:00am and 6:00pm.
I carry a pager with me at all times. I do not publish my pager number,
it is on both my answering machine (when I am away) and on my voice mail
(when I am on the phone already). Do not write the pager number down, there
is no reason to do so. If you abuse the pager rights by paging without
calling first, you will either be billed very hard or your page will not
be returned. The pager is strictly a second-stage escalation. If I am at
home and not on the phone, the fastest way to get ahold of me by far is
to call and have me answer. The pager introduces at least a five minute
delay, plus getting to you through your phone system, so by far, especially
if something is an emergency, call the voice number first. ALWAYS.
